📌#Earlier this week, on July 8, 2025, President Asif Ali Zardari signed the Virtual Assets Ordinance, 2025. 🎉🎉This ordinance establishes the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA), an independent body tasked with licensing, regulating, and monitoring all virtual asset service providers (VASPs) in the country.
#This is a major shift from Pakistan's previous stance, where crypto was in a legal "grey area" or even effectively banned for financial institutions. The move aligns Pakistan with international standards, particularly FATF (Financial Action Task Force) guidelines, to combat money laundering and terror financing.
