Bitcoin miners faced a 7.96% increase in difficulty on June 12, 2025, when block height 905184 was reached - illustrating a figure that reached 126.27 trillion. BTC mining has simply become more difficult. Saturday's difficulty pushed to a peak of 7.96%, marking the ninth time it has climbed this year, along with five times it has been called. The difficulty number is without dimensions - it simply shows how hard it is to discover a block now compared to the easiest Bitcoin setup, which was tied to a difficulty of 1 at the launch of the network. With the current level at 126.27 trillion, miners must output, on average, 126.27 trillion hashes to hit the winner that matches the network's target and qualifies as a valid block. Before the adjustment, Bitcoin mining brought in about $64.03 per Petahash per second (PH/S). But after the difficulty adjustment, revenue dropped to $59.01.
