#USCryptoWeek The U.S. Congress Prepares for "Crypto Week" with Industry Urging Lawmakers to Act
The U.S. House of Representatives is gearing up for what Republican leaders have dubbed "Crypto Week," a legislative push scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday that could reshape the future of digital asset regulation in the country.
This week's episode of Byte-Sized Insight explores the political risks of these laws, the lobbying efforts by the industry, and whether bipartisan support is sufficient to push the legislation over the finish line.
Lawmakers are expected to discuss and vote on three major bills: the CLARITY Act, which would define regulatory oversight of cryptocurrency markets; the GENIUS Act, which creates a framework for stablecoins and has already been approved by the Senate; and the State Surveillance Act to combat central bank digital currencies, which would prohibit the creation of a U.S. central bank digital currency.
