BTC Digital (BTCT) shares surged by up to 20% this Friday, after the company announced the creation of a strategic reserve of one million dollars in Ethereum (ETH). This is the first step of a broader plan to expand its presence in the decentralized financial ecosystem.
"Securing an initial ETH reserve today positions us to lead in areas such as stablecoins, asset tokenization, and on-chain finance," stated Siguang Peng, CEO of the company. He emphasized that Ethereum has established itself as the key infrastructure for USD settlement within the crypto universe.
Founded in 2006 and listed on Nasdaq since 2020, BTC Digital aims to evolve from being a mere miner to a strategic player in blockchain infrastructure. The firm plans to expand its ETH reserves based on market evolution and technological advancements of the network.
