Foresight News reports that the Russian government is amending the draft mining bill initially passed in 2022, which aims to prohibit domestic data processing centers from using subsidized electricity for cryptocurrency mining. Data centers must register with the registry managed by the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications and commit not to engage in mining activities in order to enjoy preferential electricity prices. This registration is voluntary, but participants are not allowed to store mining equipment, even if it is not connected to the network.
