PANews reported on July 11, according to CryptoSlate, that court documents from July 10 revealed that Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm's attorney stated that if the judge allows a hacker who allegedly used the platform to testify, they may request a brief postponement of the upcoming criminal trial. The Storm defense team filed a motion to exclude this unnamed witness in the U.S. Southern District Court of New York, as the prosecution disclosed their identity after the agreed deadline. The witness is alleged to be involved in a hacking incident, laundering funds through an Ethereum mixer to conceal their whereabouts.

Storm's attorney believes that this testimony may provoke jurors' anger, thereby unfairly affecting their views on the defendant. If the court denies the motion to exclude, they reserve the right to request a postponement. The Storm trial is scheduled to begin on July 14, with the judge expected to rule on the witness motion before the weekend, and jurors will be selected next Monday under Judge Katherine Failla.
