This move supports Dubai’s financial innovation goals and the shift toward digital payments. The rollout will take place in phases and begin with selected routes or regions. Emirates will convert cryptocurrency payments into local currency at the point of transaction.
The payment system will not store digital assets on Emirates’ balance sheet. It will settle all transactions in UAE dirhams. The collaboration includes technical planning, compliance checks, and improving the customer experience. Both parties will also run marketing campaigns to raise awareness and boost adoption of the service.
