Nanjing 'Brothers Lobster Xianhe Store', a popular lobster restaurant with a takeaway platform rating as high as 4.9 and monthly sales exceeding a thousand orders, is alleged to use 'shrimp cleaning powder' (oxalic acid) to clean small lobsters, according to insiders.

In the store's corridor, a solution emitting a sour odor is used to clean the lobsters, with 'Oxalic Acid AR Analysis Pure' powder placed nearby. Employees reveal that over a hundred pounds of lobsters are cleaned daily.

The state strictly prohibits the standalone use of oxalic acid as a food disinfectant or cleaner. Experts point out that oxalic acid can easily combine with calcium to form precipitates, increasing the burden on the kidneys, and long-term ingestion may lead to health risks such as kidney stones.
