A daring crime has occurred in Mexico, already dubbed the 'heist of the century.' Armed criminals hijacked a truck belonging to Grupo Minero Bacis, transporting 33 tons of gold and silver concentrate. It all happened on a highway in Durango state — like in a movie: two white cars block the road, armed individuals take the driver and security hostage, disconnect the trailer, and disappear.
⏱ It all took an hour and a half.
🚛 Only the cabin was found later — the trailer with millions of dollars vanished.
💰 Concentrate is semi-processed raw material from which pure gold and silver can be obtained.
This is not just theft — it is a blow to the entire mining industry of the country. Mexico is one of the largest producers of silver in the world, and such incidents undermine confidence in the security of logistics. In the first two months of 2025 alone, more than 24,000 cargo thefts have been recorded in the country.
While the police search for clues, experts are confident that a well-organized criminal group, possibly linked to drug cartels, is behind the operation. Everything was too clear and professional.
Grupo Minero Bacis is already calculating losses, and the whole world is wondering: where did the tons of precious concentrate go? And will they pop up somewhere on the black market?
