The impact of the Trade war on Vietnam
This is part 8 or 9 in the series on tariffs - since the beginning of April, I can't remember exactly, but on the day of the tax extension deadline, and Vietnam had reached an agreement earlier, let's share more, everyone ❤️
Last week, the confirmed number for Vietnam was 20% – the import tax that the US will impose on goods originating from Vietnam starting after July 9. This is significantly lower than the warning tax of 46% that the US announced on April 7 and is clearly much more favorable compared to the 55%-35% of China or up to 40% of the 15 countries that just received a letter yesterday. But behind that seemingly simple number is a complex web of regulations, conditions, and verification regarding the origin.
