Bitcoin breaks records but major media ignore it.
A report by Bitcoin Perception reveals which traditional media outlets report on bitcoin and which provide insufficient coverage.
Although bitcoin (BTC) recorded new all-time high prices in the second quarter of 2025, a new report shows that major traditional financial media dedicated surprisingly limited coverage to it.
During the second quarter of the year, 18 international news portals published a total of 1,116 articles about bitcoin. While some media took a positive or neutral approach, others leaned toward a more critical perspective. Overall, 31% of the content was positive, 41% neutral, and 28% negative.
The most striking aspect of the report, prepared by the market analysis firm Bitcoin Perception, is the scant coverage of bitcoin by elite financial media. The Wall Street Journal published only two articles throughout the quarter, while the Financial Times and the New York Times barely reached 11 each.
Thus, the report notes that this limited attention has occurred amid a scenario where bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) reached record levels, and several large companies significantly increased their BTC reserves.
