Trump publishes letters about the introduction of duties on several countries
US President Donald Trump published letters on the Truth Social social network notifying about the introduction of new import duties from August 1, 2025. They concern at least six countries:
🇯🇵 Japan — 25%
🇰🇷 South Korea — 25%
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan — 25%
🇲🇾 Malaysia — 25%
🇱🇦 Laos and 🇲🇲 Myanmar — 40%
🇿🇦 South Africa — 30%
In total, according to the White House, similar letters will be received by more than a dozen countries. Which ones exactly have not yet been disclosed.
That same day, press secretary Carolyn Levitt said Trump would sign an executive order that evening to move the trade deal deadline from July 9 to August 1.
