🇺🇸 Trump Slaps Extra 10% Tariff on Pro-BRICS Nations — No Exceptions
Washington, D.C. | July 8, 2025 — President Donald Trump has issued a sharp warning: any country siding with BRICS against U.S. interests will face an additional 10% tariff, starting August 1. The ultimatum comes days ahead of the now-expired July 9 deadline for global trade deal talks.
> “Any country aligning with the anti-American policies of BRICS will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% tariff. No exceptions,” Trump declared on social media.
BRICS, which now includes China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, and others, has come under Trump’s criticism for years. The alliance recently called U.S. tariffs a "global economic threat" during a finance ministers’ summit in Rio, and floated reforms to the IMF and global currency systems — red flags for Washington.
Trump’s team says letters are going out to 10–15 countries, stating their new tariff rates unless fresh trade agreements are reached. “It’s just a polite thank-you note… with a warning,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.
So far, Washington has finalized deals with the UK, Vietnam, and partially with China:
UK: Tariffs on cars cut from 27.5% to 10%, aerospace tariffs eliminated.
Vietnam: U.S. goods get free entry; Vietnamese goods face 20%, with 40% on re-routed goods.
China: Some U.S. tariffs drop from 145% to 30%; Beijing cuts some tariffs to 10% and removes export bans on key minerals.
Meanwhile, the EU is still in tense talks, facing up to 50% tariffs on steel, autos, and more if no deal is reached. Japan, too, may get hit with 35% duties unless it agrees by Wednesday.
As Trump pushes a bold “America First” revival, global supply chains are bracing for impact. The message is clear: Align with BRICS and pay the price.
