A dormant Ethereum address that had not made any transactions in nearly a decade (9.9 years) was just activated, according to data provided by blockchain sleuth Whale Alert.

The address held 900 ETH, which was worth only $279 total in 2015. Back then, ETH traded for mere cents. Now, it is worth over $2.27 million, which is an entire fortune.

The address is a pre-mine wallet, meaning it was created around the time of the token's initial distribution.

ETH is currently changing hands at $2,541, according to CoinGecko data.

In the meantime, the US government recently deposited $218,000 worth of ETH to Coinbase.
