#TrumpTariffs
President Trump announced today that he will send "warning letters" to several trading partners starting Monday, detailing potential tariffs that would go into effect on August 1 if new agreements are not reached.
These letters would affect about 100 countries with lower trade volumes, with base rates of 10% plus additional rates of up to 50–70% depending on the country.
Additionally, Trump threatens again with an additional 10% tariff for countries aligned with the "anti-American policies" of the BRICS bloc.
Negotiations continue to progress: there are already firm agreements with the United Kingdom and Vietnam, and there are approaches with China, the EU, Canada, and India.
This creates a scenario of dual tension: pressure to seal agreements and the threat of more severe tariffs.
Stock markets react cautiously and gold has fallen nearly 0.7%, to around $3,311 per ounce.
