The biggest crypto hack in history didn’t happen to a bank or a billionaire…
It happened inside a video game called Axie Infinity.
In March 2022, hackers stole $625 million in Ethereum and USDC from Ronin Network, the blockchain that powered the game.
Axie Infinity was a “play-to-earn” game that let users earn crypto by battling with digital creatures — hugely popular in Southeast Asia.
The attackers exploited a vulnerability in the bridge connecting the game to Ethereum.
U.S. authorities later traced the hack back to North Korean cybercriminals linked to the Lazarus Group.
So yeah… even video games aren’t safe when real money’s involved.
