🇺🇸 Donald Trump says he's "saddened to see Elon Musk completely derailing"
The South African-born billionaire stated over the weekend that the party would fight against what he describes as a system "that is bankrupting our country through waste and corruption".
The feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump continued on Sunday, when the American president again criticized the South African-born billionaire and his plan to create a third major political party.
Speaking to reporters before his return to Washington from New Jersey, Donald Trump called Elon Musk's initiative "ridiculous" and defended the record of his own party.
"The Democrats have gone astray, but the system has always been bipartisan," he said. "I think creating a third party just adds to the confusion. The system really seems to have been designed for two parties".
The American president also wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, stating: "I am saddened to see Elon Musk completely 'derailing', essentially becoming a train wreck over the past five weeks."
Elon Musk, who was once a close ally of Mr. Trump when he led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), broke ranks with the president after the passage of a controversial tax and spending bill that Donald Trump dubbed the "Big Beautiful Bill" and which was enacted on Friday.
Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" eliminated tax incentives for electric vehicles, which is sure to affect Elon Musk, owner of the company Tesla, which specializes in manufacturing electric cars.
The law aims to increase funding for border security, defense, and energy production, while facing criticism for cutting healthcare and food assistance programs.
