#TrumpTariffs new wave of protectionism
In April 2025, Donald Trump announced the introduction of so-called "reciprocal tariffs" on imports from over 90 countries. These tariffs, which reached 125% for China, were a response to trade barriers that, according to Trump, other countries were imposing against the USA. This move was presented as the "Day of Liberation" for the American economy.
Despite a short-term rise in stock indices, economists warn of inflation risks and a potential escalation of the trade war. Countries in Asia, particularly Cambodia and Vietnam, have been the hardest hit, facing tariffs exceeding 45%. Although Trump temporarily suspended the tariffs for 90 days, uncertainty regarding further actions remains.
These events could significantly impact global supply chains, the investment climate, and the positions of the USA in the global market.
