Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX, has announced plans to form a new political group called the "America Party". The idea came after a falling out with former U.S. President Donald Trump over what Musk described as the "debt slavery bill" — a spending plan he criticized as fiscally irresponsible.
When asked on X (formerly Twitter) whether the America Party would support Bitcoin $BTC , Musk responded positively. This isn’t surprising, as both Tesla and SpaceX hold $BTC BTC in their treasuries, and Musk has openly backed cryptocurrencies for years.
The America Party is not officially registered yet, and it doesn’t have a website. So far, Musk has shared its goals through posts and reposts on X. According to him, the party will promote pro-technology innovation, free speech, and minimal government regulation, while holding centrist views on other political topics.
Musk also mentioned that the party won't immediately run a presidential candidate. Instead, its first focus will be on supporting candidates in U.S. House and Senate elections. He appears to be aiming for long-term influence in American politics, starting from the legislative level.
Meanwhile, Trump reacted harshly, posting on Truth Social that Musk has "gone off the rails" and even called him a "train wreck." The tension between the two high-profile figures has added to the buzz around the party's future.
If it moves forward, the America Party could become one of the first tech-driven political platforms to actively support Bitcoin and blockchain innovation — which could have a major impact on the future of crypto regulation in the U.S.
