Trump's Definitions#
US President Donald Trump warned countries that align with the policies of the BRICS alliance, which contradict American interests, about the imposition of an additional 10% tariff. Trump tweeted on social media: "Any country that aligns with BRICS policies and is hostile to America will be subjected to an additional 10% tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy."
Trump has long criticized the BRICS group, which includes China, Russia, and India.
The United States had set July 9 as the deadline for countries to reach a trade agreement, but US officials now say that tariffs will begin on August 1.
Trump also stated that he will inform the countries supporting the BRICS group about the tariff rate in case no agreement is reached.
