Elon Musk announced the creation of the America Party on July 5, 2025, after conducting a poll on X (formerly Twitter) asking if people wanted a new political party. Its main objective is to "keep democracy alive" and offer voters a "freedom" from what he calls the two-party system (or "one-party") in the United States. It seeks to be an alternative to both the Republicans and the Democrats, whom he criticizes for excessive spending and polarization.
