Announced on July 5 via his platform X, Musk declared the party’s mission is to “give you back your freedom,” criticizing both major parties for enabling waste and corruption. The move follows Musk’s vocal opposition to Trump’s recently passed “megabill,” which he claims adds trillions to the national debt. A poll Musk conducted showed two-thirds of respondents supported the idea of a new party. He suggested the America Party would focus on a few key Senate and House races to influence legislation.

The social media platform he owns, as he continued feuding with Donald Trump over the spending bill that the president has signed into law.

On Saturday, without immediately elaborating, the former Trump adviser announced on X that he had created the so-called America party.
