🌎 Local Spotlight: Crypto Regulation in Indonesia
Crypto oversight has now shifted from Bappebti to OJK since January 10, 2025, through Government Regulation No. 49/2024 & OJK Regulation No. 27/2024. This marks crypto as a financial instrument, not a commodity.
Tax rules were enforced between January 1–6, 2025:
VAT of 0.11% for registered platforms and 0.22% for unregistered ones.
Mining is taxed up to 0.1%.
OJK has issued 19 licenses for digital financial asset (DFA) traders by March 2025 and is still processing an additional 11 licenses.
Local exchanges such as Indodax, Tokocrypto, Upbit Indonesia, Luno, and others have been registered with Bappebti and regulated by OJK.
