State of Polkadot Q1 2025 by Messari
Released one week ago, the State of Polkadot for the Q1 2025 shows a slow down in activities and DOT values following the entire market.
→ Developers
Polkadot core developers were stable during Q1. The active core developers are more or less 122, while the active developers in the whole ecosystem are around 420.
Developer experience and involvement has seen improvements thanks Polkadot-API (PAPI) enhancements and the launch of PAPI Console, a new UX Audit grants and a restructured UX Bounties.
→ Ecosystem Activity
While the Polkadot ecosystem experienced declines in overall transactions and active daily wallets (-25% and -30%, respectively), parachains such as Moonbeam (16.7M tx, +6.5% QoQ), Mythos (12.3M tx, +12% QoQ), and Peaq (10.1M tx, +84% QoQ) increased their transaction volumes with new features and updates.
Parachains like Frequency (26.8M tx), Phala (15.1M tx), and Energy Web (
(11.4M tx) continued to lead in active addresses, showing consistent user engagement on these networks.
→ Financial values
Despite the decrease in DOT's USD value, the Polkadot treasury achieved its first-ever net-positive financial result in Q1. This trend might already reverse in Q2 due to the release of large incentives. The treasury fell below $100 million in Q2.
The DOT token saw a decline in price, similar to the broader market. This trend is continuing in Q2. $DOT prices are currently under $4.
