🐳 Who is behind the mysterious Bitcoin whale?
The transfer of 80,009 BTC ($8.69 billion), which had not moved for over 14 years, has sparked a wave of discussions online — who could be the owner of these wallets?
Some on-chain analysts believe that Roger Ver, known as "Bitcoin Jesus," is behind them. He started buying BTC back in 2011 at a price below $1 and later became one of the public supporters of Bitcoin Cash.
At the same time, the product director of Coinbase does not rule out that the addresses could have been hacked — such a long absence of activity looks suspicious.
There is another version: an unknown holder may be linked to Silk Road. The founder of the darknet marketplace, Ross Ulbricht, launched the platform in 2011 — a few months before these wallets received their BTC. It is possible that the funds were related to early shadow transactions of Bitcoin.
Whatever the case, this story serves as a reminder that sometimes the best investor is the one who simply does nothing.
