Bitcoin Wallets Unleash Billions After 14 Years of Dormancy 🪙💥

Two dormant Bitcoin wallets, each holding 10,000 $BTC , sprang to life after 14 years, moving billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin for the first time since their creation.

🔙 The Dormant Wallets

These wallets were originally created in 2011:

April 3, 2011: One wallet moved 23,377.83 BTC to three different addresses.

Two of those addresses each received 10,000 BTC at a time when Bitcoin was worth only $0.78.

Over 14 years, the value of each 10,000 BTC stash has skyrocketed by 13,982,800% — from $7,800 to a staggering $1.1 billion! 💰

💡 The Big Move

On July 3-4, 2025, the wallets made their first move, transferring the 10,000 BTC from each to new addresses. Both transfers occurred within 30 minutes of each other. The wallets had been inactive until now, using a modern, lower-fee address format for the transfers.

🔎 The Mystery

The identity of the wallet owners remains unknown. Some analysts speculate that the same entity might control both wallets, as well as six other addresses that were similarly dormant and moved funds on the same day.

🌍 Bitcoin’s Steady Rise

Bitcoin continues to hover above $100,000 per coin, with experts suggesting a macro catalyst might drive it past its all-time high of $112,000.
