Odaily Planet Daily News: On July 4 local time, the U.S. Air Force has suspended SpaceX's proposal to test hypersonic rocket cargo transport from the Pacific atoll. A spokesperson for the U.S. Air Force stated that the Air Force is exploring other locations for the project. It is reported that the project will test a reusable rocket landing vehicle that can deliver up to 100 tons of cargo anywhere on Earth in about 90 minutes. Previously, biologists and experts expressed that the project would endanger many seabirds nesting in the Johnston Atoll Wildlife Refuge. The U.S. Air Force had stated that it would conduct an environmental assessment for the project, but the release of the draft assessment was delayed due to opposition from environmental organizations.
