We are excited to announce the appointment of Gillian Lynch as Binance’s new Head of Europe and UK. Lynch brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning traditional banking, fintech, and digital-asset innovation. As Binance continues to deepen its focus in key regulated markets across Europe, this strategic appointment reflects our long-term commitment to thoughtful regulation, user protection, and sustainable growth in the region.
A Leader For Crypto’s Era of Maturity
At Binance, Lynch will oversee the company’s strategy, day-to-day operations, and regulatory engagement efforts across the European and UK markets. Her role will involve driving regional growth, deepening relationships with policymakers and regulators, and ensuring Binance continues to operate with the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and user protection.
Binance CEO Richard Teng noted that Lynch’s stellar track record of fintech and banking leadership, as well as her deep regulatory and compliance expertise position her exceptionally well to lead Binance’s operations across Europe and the UK at a defining moment for the industry. Teng added, “We’re confident that under her leadership, Binance will continue to set the standard for responsible innovation in Europe and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of finance for the next billion users.”
In Lynch’s view, the crypto industry steps into a new era of global legitimacy and maturity, with transformative frameworks like MiCA shaping the regulatory landscape. “I’m looking forward to building on the company’s momentum across Europe and the UK, collaborating closely with regulators, policymakers, and our community. Together, we will strengthen trust, uphold Binance’s gold standard of commitment to users, and help shape a more inclusive and resilient digital-asset ecosystem with Binance at the forefront.”
A Career Built for This Moment
Prior to joining Binance, Gillian Lynch served as CEO of Europe at Gemini, where she led the expansion of the company’s operations across the region. In that role, she not only scaled business growth but also steered the firm through complex regulatory environments, securing key licenses such as VASP registration with the Central Bank of Ireland and Electronic Money Institution authorization. This direct experience in launching regulated crypto operations in Europe provides her with an acute understanding of the compliance landscape Binance now navigates.
Earlier in her career, she held senior executive roles at Bank of Ireland, including Head of Retail Strategy & Planning and Head of IT and Operations in the UK, giving her deep exposure to traditional financial infrastructure and regulatory protocols. She later brought that experience into the fintech space as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Leveris, a banking-as-a-service platform focused on modernizing core banking systems. These roles have equipped her with both the operational discipline of legacy finance and the agility of fintech – a combination critical to scaling Binance’s presence in a highly regulated, fast-evolving environment.
Final Thoughts
With this appointment, we reaffirm our commitment to building long-term, trust-based relationships with European regulators and institutions. Under Gillian Lynch’s leadership, Binance is well-positioned to advance responsible innovation and support the next phase of crypto adoption across Europe and the UK.
