🏛 Ripple seeks to obtain a banking license in the USA
Ripple has applied for a national banking license with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), as confirmed by the company's CEO Brad Garlinghouse. This step is intended to become a new benchmark of trust in the stablecoin market, he noted. If approved, Ripple USD (RLUSD) will be under federal and New York state oversight.
The application was submitted through the custodial firm Standard Custody, which Ripple acquired in February 2024.
