Trump is at it again!!!
On July 2, local time, U.S. President Trump stated that the United States has reached a trade agreement with Vietnam. Trump posted on social media 'Truth Social' that a trade agreement has been reached with Vietnam, and that details would be announced 'later!' Trump then posted again stating that all goods exported from Vietnam to the U.S. will face a tariff of at least 20%, and that the U.S. would 'completely open the market'.
Later that day, Vietnam's state news agency reported that General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, spoke on the phone with Trump regarding Vietnam-U.S. relations and tariff negotiations between the two countries. Trump emphasized that the United States will continue to work with Vietnam to address issues affecting bilateral trade. Trong suggested that the U.S. should quickly recognize Vietnam's market economy status and lift restrictions on the export of certain high-tech products to Vietnam.
