Floki launches MMORPG Valhalla in Scandinavian style on the blockchain

LONDON - The cryptocurrency project Floki has released its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Valhalla on the blockchain, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

The game, inspired by Scandinavian mythology, was released on June 30, 2024, after more than three years of development, marking a significant turn for Floki from its origins as a meme token to a gaming platform.

Valhalla offers turn-based tactical battles, NFT-based characters called Veras, and an open world where players can earn rewards through gameplay. The game operates on a play-to-earn model based on the FLOKI token.

"This is not just about placing a game on the blockchain - we aim to make blockchain gaming better," said Pedro Vidal, FLOKI's community liaison.

The company allocated millions from its treasury to fund in-game rewards and further development. Floki also announced a partnership with the esports organization Method, known for its presence in the World of Warcraft community.
