Cryptocurrency Slang ① ~HODL? HOLD?
You read it right, it is indeed misspelled, not hold, but HODL.
This term originated from a 2013 post on the Bitcoin forum (Bitcointalk) titled ‘I AM HODLING’,
where a user named GameKyuubi drunkenly lamented the hardships of buying coins, always betting wrong on the timing to buy, so he decided to simply hold on to them firmly (there's a flavor of a reliable shareholder and a fellow inmate of time in that, haha).
Many people resonated with this and began to comment “HODL”, wanting to start holding coins in a laid-back manner like GameKyuubi.
Later, through everyone's wisdom, this term was given a new meaning: HODL – Hold On for Dear Life. It can be understood as “Hold firm for this wonderful life”! This term has become a classic in the blockchain, representing the steadfast holding of coins
