Ripple's XRP Ledger has launched its Ethereum-compatible sidechain on the mainnet, allowing developers to build and deploy Ethereum-compatible apps within the XRP ecosystem. This integration combines the XRP Ledger's low-cost transactions with Ethereum's smart contract functionality, enabling new decentralized applications like lending, tokenization, and payments.
The XRPL EVM Sidechain was developed in collaboration with Peersyst and Axelar, using Evmos' software stack. This sidechain connects to the XRPL mainnet via Axelar, enabling seamless asset transfers between blockchains. With this launch, XRP can now flow across multiple chains, unlocking new possibilities for interoperability, programmability, and utility.
According to Ripple CTO David Schwartz, the sidechain extends the XRP Ledger's capabilities without changing its fundamentals. Peersyst's Ferran Prat added that this launch marks the beginning of a new era for XRP, enabling it to operate seamlessly across the multichain world.#StrategyBTCPurchase
