US President Donald Trump indicated the possibility of easing sanctions on Iran if it demonstrated peaceful behavior, reflecting a combination of military escalation and diplomatic openness following the recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
During a television interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Trump said, "The sanctions are still in place. But if they behave well, if they can remain peaceful, if they show us that they're not looking to cause further harm, I would be willing to consider lifting the sanctions."
In an earlier statement on Friday, Trump revealed that he had considered easing those sanctions after a ceasefire agreement was reached, but later decided to maintain them. He also sharply criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei for declaring victory in the recent confrontation with Israel.
