Iran's Top Cleric Issues Fatwa Against #TRUMP and Netanyahu 🌍

Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, Iran’s leading Shiite cleric, has issued a fatwa against US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling them "enemies of God." The fatwa calls on Muslims worldwide to unite against these leaders for their perceived threats to Iran.

The decree states that anyone who threatens Iran's leadership is considered a "mohareb" (warlord), punishable by severe penalties, including execution, crucifixion, or amputation. The fatwa further declares that supporting these leaders is "haram" (forbidden), urging Muslims to make them regret their actions.

This fatwa follows a 12-day war starting June 13, after Israel bombed Iranian military figures and scientists linked to Iran's nuclear program. Iran retaliated with missile strikes on Israeli cities. The conflict escalated when the US joined Israel in targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, prompting Iran to attack an American military base in Qatar.

What is a Fatwa?

A fatwa is an interpretation of Islamic law issued by a Marja (top Shiite cleric). It calls on all Muslims to act in accordance with its rulings. The fatwa has previously been used for violent calls, most infamously in 1989 against author Salman Rushdie over his novel The Satanic Verses, which led to threats on Rushdie’s life.
