Wormhole is a cross-chain protocol that acts as a "bridge" connecting different blockchain networks.
Imagine that each blockchain (like Ethereum, Solana, Binance Smart Chain, and others) is a separate island. In the past, it was very difficult to transfer assets and data between these islands. Wormhole comes to be the bridge that connects these islands, allowing for the seamless and secure transfer of tokens (currencies) and other data (like NFTs) between more than 30 different blockchain networks.
The "W" token is the native token of the Wormhole protocol.
What does the Wormhole protocol do?
* Asset Transfer: Wormhole allows users to transfer their digital currencies from one blockchain to another. For example, you can transfer USDC from the Ethereum network to the Solana network using Wormhole. This solves the liquidity fragmentation problem and opens up new possibilities in decentralized finance (DeFi).
* Data Transfer: Wormhole is not limited to transferring currencies only; it can also transfer any type of data, enabling the creation of decentralized applications (DApps) that operate across multiple blockchain chains.
* Governance: The "W" token plays a central role in the governance of the protocol. Token holders can vote on proposals related to the future and development of the protocol.
* Enhancing Interoperability: The primary goal of Wormhole is to enhance interoperability between blockchain networks, contributing to the creation of a more interconnected decentralized ecosystem.
