Cryptocurrency transactions in Bolivia increased by 530% after the ban was lifted!

The Central Bank of Bolivia reported a rapid growth in digital asset transactions, reflecting the increasing desire of citizens to protect their savings from the depreciation of the boliviano. According to new data, the volume of transactions using electronic channels and tools for working with virtual assets grew by more than 530% — from $46.5 million in the first half of 2024 to $294 million for the same period in 2025. In May, a record value was recorded — $68 million for the month.

The bank noted that digital tools simplified access to currency operations, transfers, purchases, and payments, which is particularly important for small businesses and households. After the ban on cryptocurrencies was lifted in June 2023, more than 10,000 operations were conducted with a total amount of $430 million. Authorities are now developing a legal framework for fintech companies in accordance with GAFILAT standards. Residents are increasingly turning to exchanges like #Binance and stablecoins such as Tether to preserve capital.
