$BTC $ETH Ethereum Allocation Shrinks as Focus Shifts to BTC
While Bitcoin is strengthening its position in the market, Ethereum is slowly losing ground in investors’ portfolios. The latest data reveals a clear shift in sentiment, with institutions leaning more towards Bitcoin and away from ETH. The contrast between the two assets is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Here’s what the latest data shows about this shift:
In May 2025, the ETH to BTC holding ratio reached 0.27, with Bitcoin weighing four times more than Ether in portfolios
245 institutional players now include BTC in their holdings
Combined corporate and ETF holdings surpass 3.45 million BTC, a growing share of total in circulation
Retail investors have pulled back, with holdings down 37% since November 2024.
While Ethereum’s holdings have declined, they have shown signs of recovery. Between April and May 2025, ETH holdings rebounded from a low of 3.89%, nearly doubling in a month.
However, it remains below the November 2024 peak of 11.12%, showing that Ethereum’s position is still under pressure relative to Bitcoin.
