Tesla launched driverless taxis in Austin (Texas)

Tesla has begun testing its own robotaxi service in the city of Austin, Texas. About 20 Model Y electric vehicles equipped with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system are already circulating through the streets of the metropolis.

At this stage, access to the service is limited to a small number of users — Tesla investors and enthusiasts who received an invite to the closed mobile application. Through it, users can summon a driverless taxi and choose a route.

🚗 How the service works:

Availability: rides are available daily from 6:00 AM to midnight.

Areas: the service operates within strictly limited zones of Austin, where Tesla has conducted preliminary mapping.

Safety: despite the autonomous mode, there is a Tesla employee in each car ready to take control in case of an emergency.

Fare: fixed at $4.20, regardless of the length of the route (at the start of testing).

This launch is the first public pilot of the Tesla Robotaxi project, which Elon Musk announced back in 2021.

I believe in Musk :) What about you?)
