#ElonMusk Has Fired One Of His Top Tesla Lieutenants
Tesla has removed longtime executive Omead Afshar, who oversaw operations in North America and Europe, amid ongoing sales declines 📉 in both regions. Promoted last October, Afshar was a key figure in Tesla's leadership.
His departure comes just before the end of Q2, with analysts predicting a global EV delivery drop of 10%, down to ~392,800 units vs. 443,956 a year ago.
🇪🇺 Europe: EV sales fell for a 5th straight month
🇺🇸 U.S.: Demand continues to slide
🇨🇳 China: Sales dropped 15% in May
🚨 Tesla’s brand image has taken a hit—partly due to Musk’s high-profile political ties and controversial federal job cuts.
🚗 Despite slowing EV sales and the Cybertruck’s missed targets, Tesla is doubling down on robotaxis 🤖, AI, and humanoid robots—a risky pivot since those ventures bring in no significant revenue yet.
⚙️ On June 22, Tesla launched a robotaxi pilot in Austin. The test used Model Ys with safety drivers, limited to a small zone. No crashes reported, but erratic behavior triggered a federal safety review 🚨.
Afshar, once dubbed “Musk’s fixer,” celebrated the launch on X, calling it a “historic day.” Just days later, he was out.
📉 Tesla stock fell 3.8% to $327.55, down 19% in 2025 so far.
With EV rivals surging—especially in China—Tesla now faces a critical moment: reinvent or risk losing ground.
