Tether, the issuer #USDT , announced that it will become the largest Bitcoin miner in the world by the end of 2025, surpassing MARA (57.3 EH/s), CleanSpark (50 EH/s), and Riot (33.7 EH/s), according to CEO Paolo Ardoino (The Block, 26/06/2025). Owning 100,000 BTC (~10 billion USD, CoinGecko, BTC price ~$106,000) and 50 tons of gold, Tether invests 2 billion USD in mining and renewable energy in Uruguay, Paraguay, and El Salvador.
Ardoino emphasizes that Bitcoin mining protects the network, not just for profit. Tether's comprehensive stability strategy includes energy (Tether Energy), stablecoin (USDT), media (Be Water, Rumble), and AI (Tether.AI). The company is expanding with a BTC fund, investing in Orionx, Elemental (89.2 million USD), and preparing a US stablecoin compliant with the GENIUS Act, promoting DeFi and global blockchain.
