Hacker Cork transfers ETH to Tornado Cash and donates to Roman Storm's fund
#Hacker behind the $12 million Cork Protocol attack has transferred $11 million Ether ($ETH ) through Tornado Cash and donated $24,000 to the legal fund of Tornado Cash founder Roman Storm. Security firm PeckShield confirmed that the attacker transferred a total of 4,520 ETH to Tornado Cash.
Developments after the donation and similar cases
Although the hacker donated, Roman Storm stated that his fund cannot accept that amount and will return it to team #CorkProtocol . Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin also donated $500,000 and pledged to match $750,000 for this fund.
The Cork Protocol hack occurred due to an undiscovered access control vulnerability in the audit. In a related case, Tornado Cash co-founder Alexey Perstev is appealing money laundering charges, requesting specific evidence of transactions related to the hack to prove his innocence.
