The Tron blockchain has just reached a historic milestone in the crypto universe: the total amount of USDT (Tether) circulating on its network has exceeded US$ 80 billion. Tron has established itself as the leading blockchain for USDT transactions, leaving Ethereum and 19 other networks behind.
This growth is not recent: in 2020, Tron held only US$ 6.7 billion in USDT. In 2021, this amount jumped to US$ 39.4 billion, a 487% increase. By 2025, the supply of USDT on Tron rose from US$ 59.7 billion at the beginning of the year to US$ 80.76 billion by mid-year, surpassing Ethereum's total of US$ 72.51 billion in November 2024.
Other networks, such as Solana, Aptos, and TON, represent much smaller fractions of the USDT market. Tron's dominance can be explained by its lower fees and faster transactions compared to Ethereum, attracting users and major exchanges.
Recently, Tether Treasury minted US$ 2 billion in USDT solely on Tron, signaling a preference for the network. With over 730,000 active USDT wallets on Tron in just one week, it is clear: Tron has ceased to be just a competitor and now leads the adoption of stablecoins in the crypto market.
