WalletConnect is an open-source protocol that allows decentralized applications (dApps) to connect with mobile or desktop cryptocurrency wallets securely. Instead of logging in with a username and password, WalletConnect enables users to interact with dApps by scanning a QR code or following a deep link from their compatible wallet.

How does WalletConnect work?

Secure login: When you enter a dApp and choose WalletConnect as the connection method, the dApp generates a unique QR code.

Scanning the QR: You use a compatible wallet (like Trust Wallet, MetaMask Mobile, Rainbow, etc.) to scan the QR or follow a link.

Connection established: An encrypted channel is created between the dApp and the wallet using WebSocket or HTTP. This allows signing transactions without exposing your private keys.

Signing transactions: When the dApp needs you to authorize an action (like sending tokens or interacting with a smart contract), the wallet prompts you for confirmation directly from your device.
