Marco Rubio cảnh báo chênh lệch quyền lực tiền điện tử giữa Hoa Kỳ và châu Âu về NgaMarco Rubio: The United States will not temporarily launch additional sanctions on Russia.

At the NATO conference in The Hague, Marco Rubio bluntly told European leaders that the United States would not impose additional sanctions on Russia just because of pressure from Europe.

In an interview with Politico, Marco revealed that President Donald Trump still wants to keep the negotiation channel with Vladimir Putin open, and sanctions on Moscow at this time could completely destroy the chance of achieving a peace agreement for Ukraine.

"If we do what everyone wants, which is to pressure them with harsh sanctions, we may lose the ability to negotiate a ceasefire, and then who will speak to them?" Marco said.

This response came just hours before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with many European leaders, was expected to meet directly with President Trump to urge increased economic pressure on Russia.

Trump clearly has no intention of letting Europe impose U.S. foreign policy, especially regarding Vladimir Putin. Instead, his team is focused on maintaining a channel of dialogue with the Kremlin, even as Russian military forces continue to advance deep into Ukrainian territory.

Marco stated that Trump is coordinating with Congress to ensure there is enough flexibility to act, but emphasized that when new sanctions are applied, the opportunity for negotiation is almost gone. "If he does that, you are almost acknowledging that no negotiations are about to take place," Marco shared with Dasha.

The battlefield objectives replace diplomacy.

When negotiations stalled, Marco believed that Russia was trying to use force to achieve what was not attainable at the negotiating table. "We assess that Russia will try to gain on the battlefield the territories they once demanded, such as maintaining the current administrative borders," he said. Although Washington opposes this view, Marco acknowledged that Russia does not act like a party wanting peace.

Nevertheless, he asserted: "We will continue to maintain communication; if there is an opportunity to influence and bring them back to the negotiating table, we will take advantage of it."

While the United States still wants to maintain diplomatic channels, Russia has just launched a new summer offensive in Ukraine, despite calls for a ceasefire from Kyiv and its Western allies. Europe urges stronger sanctions, but the White House is postponing. Trump wants a deal, while Europe desires consequences. That is the current division.

Trump stated that Putin had called to offer assistance, but not in the way he wanted. "Putin called me asking if I needed help with Iran? I said no, I don't need help with Iran, I need help with him," Trump said before entering meetings, "I hope we will reach an agreement with Russia; it is unfortunate that 6,000 soldiers were killed last week."

He did not provide further details about the expected agreement, but it was clear that he is still striving to maintain diplomacy. Trump is expected to meet Zelenskyy at the conference.

Russia-Iran relations are increasing amid the conflict in Israel.

While the world focuses on Ukraine, Russia and Iran have tightened military and nuclear ties. Since Russia launched its comprehensive campaign in Ukraine, Iran has supplied Moscow with thousands of Shahed drones, which are frequently used in airstrikes on Ukrainian cities.

This alliance does not stop at drones. Despite international sanctions, both Russia and Iran continue to advance their nuclear programs. Russia has gifted Iran its first nuclear power plant in the Middle East, ignoring objections from the West.

Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and Israel are also escalating. On June 13, Iran launched missiles targeting Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, causing civilian casualties, including five Ukrainian citizens, in retaliation for previous military actions by Israel. After several days of heightened tensions, Trump announced a ceasefire between the two sides, but it lasted only a few hours due to the lack of an enforcement mechanism, and Iran continued its bombardment.
