Ethereum may start creating new blocks twice as fast — in 6 seconds instead of 12.
This is being discussed as part of the EIP-7782 proposal and could be implemented in the Glamsterdam update in 2026.
The acceleration will improve network performance, enhance the functionality of DeFi applications, and may reduce fees.
