Israel Uncovers Iranian Spy Network, Perpetrators Paid with Crypto
TEL AVIV – Israeli security authorities announced on Tuesday that they have arrested several of its citizens on charges of being spies for Iran. In a modern espionage method, the suspects reportedly received payments in the form of cryptocurrency for each task they completed.
According to a joint statement from the Shin Bet security service and the Israel Police, the suspects were recruited through social media by Iranian intelligence agents. They were then assigned tasks such as photographing sensitive locations, including military bases and the residences of defense officials. In return, they received thousands of dollars sent via crypto assets like Bitcoin to avoid tracking.
Israeli authorities have once again issued a strong warning to their citizens to be wary of suspicious friendship or job offers on online platforms. This case highlights how the shadow war between Israel and Iran is intensifying in cyberspace, where cryptocurrency and social media have now become key weapons in international espionage.$BTC #Israel
