CoinShares Survey: 82% of Wealthy U.S. Investors Favor Cryptocurrency Advisors

According to a CoinShares survey conducted in June 2025, wealthy U.S. investors prefer to choose advisors who can provide guidance on cryptocurrency.

The survey found that among 500 respondents with over $500,000 in investable assets, 88% had worked with an advisor, with 58% viewing advisors as the most trusted source of information on digital assets.

82% of respondents were more inclined to choose cryptocurrency advisors with expertise. This is because investors expect advisors to provide comprehensive services such as portfolio design, risk management strategies, custody advice, tax and regulatory support, and foundational education on blockchain, all while ensuring compliance.

When asked about warning signs, 29% of respondents pointed out that advisors lack personal experience in cryptocurrency, while another 29% indicated that advisors did not adequately explain the risks when recommending products.

Currently, investors are categorized into three types: 'Cryptocurrency Curious' (21%), 'Cautiously Confident' (38%), and 'Firmly Supportive' (37%).

Among them, the curious rely on advisors for foundational education and prefer passive investment products; the cautiously confident seek familiar investment structures, such as ETFs and stablecoins; while the firmly supportive desire more advanced strategies, including DeFi, equity staking, and tax optimization.

The report also notes that 65% of investors have delayed digital asset allocation due to a lack of reliable information, with only 6% of investors having a thorough understanding of digital asset investments.

Additionally, in the 2024 report, 91% were optimistic about the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin, and 42% stated that late adopters would face higher risks. This finding is also corroborated by investor behavior, with 90% of current holders planning to increase their positions in 2025, and 75% of onlookers planning to enter the market as soon as possible.

In summary, digital asset management capability has become a core criterion for high-net-worth clients when choosing investment advisors. Particularly in areas such as compliance product selection, portfolio optimization, asset custody solutions, and tax planning guidance, the level of expertise directly determines the core competitiveness of investment advisors.

Finally, if you are interested in investing in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, would you choose to seek guidance from a professional investment advisor?
