$BTC At the time of writing, Bitcoin's dominance (BTC.D), measuring the share of Bitcoin's market capitalization relative to the total cryptocurrency market capitalization, has reached a new high for 2025. It currently exceeds 65% — the highest level since February 2021.

Data from TradingView shows that BTC.D has been increasing for seven consecutive quarters without a single quarterly correction. This reflects strong long-term confidence in Bitcoin from both retail and institutional investors.

Crypto analyst Rekt Capital predicts that Bitcoin's dominance could rise to 71% in the near future. If this happens, the altcoin market risks facing a sharp correction. A similar scenario unfolded in February 2025 when Bitcoin's dominance peaked and led to a sharp decline in many major altcoins.

In February 2025, the market capitalization of altcoins (TOTAL2) fell from $1.4 trillion to $1 trillion. If Rekt Capital's prediction comes true, the market capitalization of altcoins could drop below $700 billion.

Nick, co-founder of CoinBureau, also suggests that BTC.D could reach 70%. Raoul Pal, founder and CEO of RealVision, agrees with this.
