Awakening the Giant: Bitcoin Whale Moves 61 BTC After 11.5 Years

On June 22, 2025, an unknown Bitcoin whale made a transaction for 61 $BTC after 11 years and six months of inactivity. According to Whale Alert, over $2,000 in Bitcoin was transferred to the Gemini crypto exchange, with the transaction fee being only $4.57.

According to on-chain data, the whale received 3,000 $BTC in November 2013 — worth about $61,000 at the time. That's equivalent to about $30 million today. Interestingly, between 2014 and 2021, up to $1 worth of bitcoin was sent to that address, with fees for some of those transactions reaching hundreds of dollars.

On the balance of the whale at the time of writing increasingly still remains almost 239 $BTC .

Cryptocurrency AI assistant Alva noted that such “awakening” is likely profit-taking or asset relocation for safety purposes.

"Such actions could impact short-term market sentiment, with traders watching closely to see whether this is a massive sell-off or just a careful rebalancing. Such activations have previously coincided with key market turns," the report said.

Let me remind you that on May 6, 2025, another unknown whale also became active after 11 years and eight months, moving 2343 BTC.
